چکیده

The ionic and electrochemical polarization characteristics of two boules of single crystal sodium beta-alumina (Na20.8Al203), 2 cm in diameter, were investigated over the range of 250 to 30* C using 2and 4-probe ac and dc techniques with reversible and ion-blocking electrodes. Textural (or internal) polarization at 270 C was present only in boule 1 which cleaved easily. Interfacial polarization, using solid sodium electrodes, was present at 270 C in the 2-probe conductivities L for both boules. Cleaning with liquid sodium at.3000 C reduced its magnitude, but some interfacial polarization was still present in the 2-probe conductivities for boule 2 below about 1400 C. Above 140* C, with liquid sodium electrodes, the 2-probe conductivities, essentially polarization-free, were given by KT = 3300 exp(-3650/RT). The conductivity of boule 2 at 1800 C remained essentially constant with increasing current density up to about 140 ma/cm CONDUCTIVITY OF BOULES OF SINGLE CRYSTAL SODIUM BETA-ALUMINA by William L. Investigation of the effect of temperature and concentration of ceramic nanoparticles on the thermal conductivity of water-ethylene glycol / nano Alumina-nano Graphen hybrid nanofluid

Nanofluid is a suspension obtained by adding nanoscale particles (100 nm) to a base fluid to improve heat transfer. In this study, the effect of temperature and concentration of nanoparticles consisting of Alumina nanoparticles and Graphene nanosheets on the thermal conductivity of a base fluid consisting of water and ethylene glycol was studied. Also, 0.2% by volume of oleic acid (OA) and 0.2%...

Characterization of the Electronic Conduction Parameter of Cation Conducting Solid Electrolytes

The thesis aims at the characterization of the p-electronic conduction parameter of cation conducting solid electrolytes. For this purpose potentiometric as well as thermoelectric measurements were carried out. The investigations have been done on commercially available potassium and sodium beta alumina as well as on laboratoryprepared samples of NASICON. The information about the p-electronic ...

Site-selective spectroscopy of Pr3+ ions in sodium [MATH]-alumina crystals

We report on the results of a low-temperature optical spectroscopy study of Pr3+-exchanged sodium 8-alumina single crystals (Na+/Pr3+ 8A120 ), containing different amounts of luminescent ions, in which excitation and fiuorescence spectra have been carried out in o and n polarization. The 3P9 + 3H4 emission spectra, obtained under broad band excitation, show an intriguing structure consisting of...

Experimental Investigation of the Alumina/Paraffin Thermal Conductivity Nanofluids with a New Correlated Equation on Effective Thermal Conductivity

Liquid paraffin as a coolant fluid can be  applied in electronic devices as a result to its suitable capabilities such as electrical insulating, high heat capacity, chemical and thermal stability, and high boiling point. However, the poor thermal conductivity of paraffin has been confined its thermal cooling application. Addition of high conductor nanoparticles to paraffin can fix this drawback...

The study of electrical conductivity and diffusion behavior of water-based and ferro/ferricyanide-electrolyte-based alumina nanofluids.

Nanofluids are liquids containing suspensions of solid nanoparticles and have attracted considerable attention because they undergo substantial mass transfer and have many potential applications in energy technologies. Most studies on nanofluids have used low-ionic-strength solutions, such as water and ethanol. However, very few studies have used high-ionic-strength solutions because the aggreg...
